Hi everyone, I’m Nessa, the proud owner of Butty’s Kitchen nestled in the wild west of Belmullet Co Mayo.
Originally from Cavan I always had a passion for baking and trying new recipes, it brought me so much joy.
While nursing became my calling and I’m lucky to still work in that field for over 20 years (showing my age here!) my love for baking never faded.
Fast forward to life now in Belmullet with my wonderful husband and two young children, where we’ve been warmly embraced by this beautiful community.
In early 2024 after lots of encouragement from family and friends, I took the leap and started my small business.
So where did the name Butty come from I hear you say?
Well, I had just come home from an incredible day selling my products with my first stall at Belmullet Heritage Festival. My sisters were up on holidays and sitting around the kitchen with a cup of tea, tossing around ideas of what to call my business.
Wee Butty immediately fell into place. Growing up it was my childhood nickname for being the shortest in my family (still am but only by quarter of an inch!). The very next day my very talented thirteen year old niece designed the exact symbol you now see today-the wee Robin. It was such a personal touch, and since my daughter’s name is Robyn, adding that made it all the more meaningful.
What started out as a simple idea soon became a beautiful family project and I’m so glad to share it with you.
